Question:

From Franklin, Tennessee, USA:

My best friend has been diagnosed with diabetes, I saw him go down, in the ambulance they give him D50 [50% dextrose in water], and it brought him around. fast. Typically, how much would one ampule of 50% dextrose raise an adult's blood glucose level?

I was just wondering for myself; that stuff was amazing.

Answer:

Usually, about 100 mg/dl [5.6 mmol/L].
