Question: From Tacoma, Washington, USA:
My son has type 1 diabetes, and I am always learning new information about his disease. I recently read that type 1 is an autoimmune disease and that type 2 is not autoimmune. Does this mean that the cause of type 1 is different from that of type 2?
Answer:
Yes, that's correct. type 1 and type 2 diabetes are very different.
