Question:

From Twin Falls, Idaho, USA:

Why are insulin pump manufacturers allowed to use refurbished pumps to satisfy warranty requirements? Do other medical device manufacturers do this?

Answer:

Without knowing the name of the manufacturer, how far you were into the four year warranty, and why the pump had to be returned, I can only say that it is indeed current practise. Amongst other reasons, it probably saves time over a repair.
