Do people with diabetes take longer to recover from illness or injury?
Answer:
They can. It depends the level of glucose control. Individuals in good control have good healing and good immune function to fight infections. Individuals with poor control have increased infections and difficulty getting rid of them, in addition to having poor wound healing. Individuals with control that is not good but not poor have results in between.
