Question:

From Cookeville, Tennessee, USA:

I am 19 now, have had type 1 diabetes for four years, and I'm trying to find the cause because I don't have any family history. I was put on Ritalin when I was in the third grade and didn't quit taking it until I started high school. In the summer after my freshman year (off Ritalin for one year) I was diagnosed with diabetes. Is there any connection between these.taking Ritalin and developing diabetes?

Answer:

There is no connection between using Ritalin and getting type 1 diabetes.
