From Plainfield, Illinois, USA:
Is it true diabetes can skip generations? If so, how common is it? My father has had it for over 55 years and neither I nor my two brothers ever developed it, but my nine year old son is showing signs. He has increased thirst and appetite, night sweats, fatigue, paleness, and blurry vision.
Nope. It's an old stubborn, urban myth about skipping generations. If your son has some symptoms, you should discuss this with your physician(s) and have him tested rather than let him get dangerously ill.
