My son is five years, nine months old. In the last month, he has been eating and drinking about 25 to 50 percent more than usual, the time between bathroom visits has shortened drastically, and he has gained about eight pounds, all of it in his midsection. Is this cause for concern, or could it possibly be an intense growth spurt?
Answer:
Your concerns are real and should be discussed with your physician. It is possible that this is a growth spurt, but it is also possible that it could be due to diabetes or another disorder. Please make arrangements to have your child seen promptly.
