Question: From Cumberland, Rhode Island, USA:
My 23 year old daughter was on 75 mg Zoloft for panic attacks for nine months. Two months after she came off the Zoloft, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I have heard of a possible connection between people on Zoloft developing diabetes and wonder if there is any truth to this.
Answer:
To my knowledge, type 2 diabetes (not type 1 diabetes) diabetes has been more strongly associated with the atypical antipsychotic medications and not anti-depressants like Zoloft.
