Question:

From Hyattsville, Maryland, USA:

I am a moderator on a "recycle" type list, From Trash to Treasure. Members on the list will write to another person offering an item and let them know they want to give the item a new home, so as to keep as many things out of the landfill as possible. Someone offered an insulin pump when they upgraded to a new pump. She wanted to offer it and her posting was rejected as we don't allow anything to be offered that requires a prescription.

Is there a place she can donate the pump she no longer needs? Is this something that is done? Her initial post stated that she preferred this to go to a non-profit or charity.

Answer:

Anyone interested in donating an insulin pump should contact Michael Robinton at michael@insulin-pumpers.org. Mr. Robinton runs the Insulin Pumpers web site.
