Question: From Mississauga, Ontario, Canada:
My 16 year old daughter has all of the symptoms of diabetes except sudden weight loss. I have not yet had her tested. How common is it for someone her age to develop diabetes suddenly? Should I rush to have her tested?
My father has had diabetes for a number of years, but he developed it much later in life. I understand that his is apparently more old age related.
Answer:
I would encourage you to have your daughter tested for diabetes if she has a number of the symptoms of diabetes.
