Question: From Smithtown, New York, USA:
On testing for a work-up for short stature, my son was found to have an elevated random glucose (124 mg/dl [6.9 mmol/L]) and subsequently a mildly elevated A1c of 6.1%. He has ADHD on Ritalin for two years. Do you know of any correlation of Ritalin causing hyperglycemia?
Answer:
I'm unaware of a link between Ritalin and hyperglycemia (high blood sugar).
