Question:

From Justice, Illinois, USA:

My granddaughter was just diagnosed with type 1 six days ago. We are working with her doctor on a daily basis to get her blood sugar down. About how long does it take before she has blood sugar is within the normal ranges?

Answer:

It mostly depends on the insulin scheme that is applied to the child, but with the new insulins, not generally longer than few weeks. Please continue to consult with the endocrinologist about dosing.
