Question: From Clayton, New Jersey, USA:
My son's diabetes team wants him to gain weight, but he is having a hard time doing so. He is 11 years old and weighs 65 pounds. He eats well and it seems like is always eating. We want to switch to a pump, but his lack of body fat is preventing it.
Answer:
This suggests that his control is very poor. If not, then you have to consider a gut problem such as celiac disease. Please discuss this possibility with your diabetes team.
