Question:

From Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA:

My five year old son urinates frequently. He also has a white patch of hair on the back of his head which he has had since birth. I was told by someone that this is a sign of diabetes. I also have a history of diabetes in my family. Should I be concerned about any of this?

Answer:

I would review all of your concerns with your pediatrician who can do a complete history and physical examination. Any of your concerns could represent a problem for your son.
