Question:

From Pennsylvania, USA:

Should the parents, or single parent of an eight year old with type 1, always be prepared by having someone capable of caring for the child's diabetic requirements in the event of their absence?

Answer:

Go with your heart and do what you think is best for the child. An eight year old should probably have someone capable of caring for him or her regardless of whether diabetes is in the mix.
