Question:

From Chennai, Tamil-Nadu, India:

My husband is 44 years old and has a 186 mg/dl [10.3 mmol/L] fasting blood sugar. Is it okay for him to continue exercising even when his blood sugar is not controlled? He is overweight and has a heart problem.

Answer:

He should speak to his physician to find out if he has any limitations on starting an exercise program and should ask if he needs to have a stress test first.
