Question: From Dayton, Ohio, USA: Are you aware of any literature that suggests children with widely varying blood sugar levels are more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD? Is there any data on co-morbidity between ADHD and type 1 diabetes in children? Answer: I am not aware of any known association or such research findings. However, children/people with ADHD are not protected from getting diabetes and blood glucose swings would likely exacerbate any pre-existing or co-existing ADHD or other learning problem, of course.
