Question:

From Clinton Township, Michigan, USA:

The doctor said my nine year old son is borderline diabetic. Do I need to check his blood glucose every day? Does he require a special diet? The doctor didn't tell me anything other than he is borderline.

Answer:

I simply don't have enough details to give you the best advice about your son. I would review your concerns with your physician. You may also wish to visit with a diabetes educator that is familiar with diabetes in children.
