Question:

From Argentina:

Is there any plan to set up screening for type 1 diabetes in schools? I am interested in once a year screening for children ages seven to 13.

Answer:

There is such school-based screening in Tokyo which has been very successful. There was a similar project in Florida many years ago. Unfortunately, the case finding rate is too low to make this a practical approach, unless it involves a research funded study.
