Question:

From Egypt:

My son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two weeks ago. His blood sugar was 385 mg/dl [21.4 mmol/L]. He was hospitalized for one week and is taking insulin shots. Now, his blood sugars are very low and we are reducing his insulin. Is this a honeymoon period or there is another test to be done? His A1c was 7.3.

Answer:

This is most probably already the beginning of the diabetes "honeymoon" phase. It implies to me that your son's diabetes was diagnosed early along the course.
