Question:

From Springfield, Missouri, USA:

How does the mitochondria in a cell affect the pancreas causing diabetes? What does it do to affect it? What makes that one mitochondrion not function properly?

Answer:

Mitochondria are the energy powerhouses of the cells. Nobody really knows the answer to your question, however.
