Question:

From India:

A type 2 diabetic with a lot of hyperglycemia may have hypertonic ECF (Extracellular Fluid) which may result redistribution/shift of a few ICF (Intracellular Fluid) substances to ECF. As such, can exercising or losing more water in sweat or in urine make ECF more hypertonic and more harmful to hyperglycemic peoples? As such, can more water intake and lesser hard work be beneficial to diabetics?

Answer:

It would be acutely. Fortunately, an intact person or animal should have an adequate thirst center to correct any marked hypertonicity. Another problem occurs when the hyperglycemia passes and patients have decreased intracellular volume.
