Question:

From India:

As a result of a 95% pancreatectomy done to treat her for nesidioblastosis, my one-year-old still needs frequent feedings to prevent low blood sugars. Diazoxide is of no use in her case. What kind of medication can I give her so that she can sleep for several hours? I would like to be able to remove her feeding tube.

Answer:

If you have not already tried this, uncooked cornstarch often will help. This is a very slow way of providing carbohydrates and may help last through the night.
