Question:

From Buffalo, New York, USA:

What effect will donating blood every eight weeks have on A1c results? My results are consistently lower than I expect them to be.

Answer:

If red blood cell survival is less than the usual 120 days, which could occur with frequent phlebotomy, the A1c could be lowered falsely. I would suggest you withhold from donating, if possible, and see if there is an effect.
