Question:

From Kigali, Rwanda:

Can I give my diabetic child vitamins, cod liver oil and omega 3?

Answer:

Reasonable doses of all three are okay. A children's vitamin is fine; the vitamin should have vitamin D in it and, therefore, cod liver oil is not needed too as there is too much of a good thing. Omega 3' s can have fish oil with mercury so be sure it is safe. In general, it is best to follow a healthy diet. So, you might want to ensure that your child is getting good food with the vitamins naturally in it.
