Question: From Uruguay:
Can a person newly diagnosed with type 1 be cured or at least protect the amount of islets that are not dead? Is there a way to stop the autoimmune illness before it destroys all the islets?
Answer:
There are currently research trials underway to test this hypothesis through TrialNet. The answer to the question is not yet available.
