Question:

From Raleigh, North Carolina, USA:

What factors, other than diet, can cause significant blood sugar fluctuations in a young girl? Menses, stress, and exercise are others, I believe.

Answer:

Additional factors include injection technique (too shallow, for example may cause a delay in insulin being absorbed); hot tubs (may cause insulin to be absorbed too quickly); illness; other endocrine or hormone conditions (thyroid, adrenal gland); and immunizations, which may lead to hyperglycemia - just to name a few!
