  Back to Kids' Voices Marissa

Hi! My name is Marissa and I got diabetes when I was two years old. I'm 21 years old, so I've had diabetes for over 19 years. I've been using an insulin pump since October 1998. I like the pump because it gives me more freedom and better control.

I am in nursing school and hope to one day become a diabetes educator. I love to travel, walk dogs, dance and go to the CWD conferences.

Diabetes has helped me choose a career in nursing and has given me the opportunity to help others with diabetes all over the world. It will never stop me from doing anything I want to do. Diabetes does not define who I am, but it has helped make me a better person.

You can send e-mail to me at marissa (at) hitchcock.net.
