Hi, I am Kristi and I am 6 years old. I have had diabetes since I was 18 months old. I am in grade one. Diabetes is kind of fun because you get candy on special occasions and I get suger-free candy.

My brother Matt and my dog help me when I get shots. I don't like the shots because they hurt. Sometimes the finger pokes hurt. I do them at school. All the kids watch me and some kids think it's gross. Sometimes it bothers me, but most of the time I don't care.

I hope kids who just got diabetes feel better. It gets easier, but eat your food so you don't have reactions. I have a pillow named Po that I scream into when I have shots. This helps a lot.
