Hi everyone! My name is Suzanne, and I've had diabetes for a little over 6 years. I am 13 years old. I really don't like having diabetes, but I still manage to do everything that other kids my age do, like swimming, skiing etc. Each summer I go to a place called Camp Huronda for 2 weeks and have a ball with alot of other kids that are diabetic. It's alot of fun, because we get to have sweet treats (like S'Mores!!) because we are active all day.
I have alot of friends, and they all know that I'm diabetic. They also know when I'm having a reaction, and how to treat it, so that I don't get worse. They have all helped me at one time or another.
My favorite sport is skiing, and I've learned that I can drop my insulin down to a much lower level and still have a good blood sugar reading. It sure takes a lot of energy!!!
I'm interested in hearing from anyone my age who is diabetic. Please E-Mail your message to my Mom, and she will make sure that I get it. (We don't have the Internet at home yet). But, I promise to send you a message back as soon as I can. My Mom's address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Bye for now!!
