My name is Tammy Appleton. I'm 15 years old. I have had diabetes for about 6 years. In the beginning it was very hard to deal with. Now I don't find it hard at all. Mostly because I go to an awesome summer camp. I go to Camp Huronda. Camp is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It helped me to deal with taking shots every day. Taught me what to do when I have a reaction and how to have fun. Camp is a place where I can escape the pressures of being a diabetic and just have a great time. As a diabetic I have "Lows", I have "Highs" and then there are times when you don't remember what you did because you were too low. If that happens at school or somewhere else you feel really embarassed. If it happens at Camp, where everybody has had the same experience then you just laugh about it. I guess this just goes to say that Camp Huronda is a major part of my life as a diabetic.
Bye for now!
