Hi My name is Ciara Lamoreau and I have Type 1 diabetes. I'm 11 years old. I was diagnosed with diabetes March 20th 1999. I was very thirsty and I was always going to the bathroom and I couldn't sleep. When I went to the hospital to see what was wrong with me they did a lot of tests including a blood test. I stayed at the hospital until the results from the test came back my blood sugar was 774! The docter told my mom that I had diabetes then she told me.

I was scared because I didn't know what it was. I had to go in an ambulance to another hospital and I stayed there for a week. I'm getting more used to taking 3 needles a day and testing my sugar four times a day. I miss not being able to eat alot of chocolate like every kid would.

I am just the same as any other 11 year old girl. I like sports. My favorite is basketball and I also like swimming. I like talking on the phone and shopping too. I have one brother and one sister. I have a pet dog named Butterscotch.
