Hi, my name is Brett Doze. I live in Syracuse, Kansas. I am 4 years old. I will be 5 in March 2000. I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 22 months old. Before I was diagnosed with diabetes I was very sick and in the hospital with pneumonia. After being discharged from the hospital I continued to be ill for several weeks. I started drinking a lot of water and urinating a lot. I went from 26 lbs to 19 lbs before I was diagnosed with diabetes. My blood sugar was 675 and I was in severe ketoacidosis. I was hospitalized for one week to get my diabetes under control. I now control my diabetes by checking my blood sugar 5 times a day and receiving 3 shots a day. I see Dr. Klingensmith in Denver, Co. every three months. I enjoy sports, power rangers, and playing on my computer. I am looking forward to going to Kindergarten in August.
