  Back to Kids' Voices Rachel
Hi, my name is Rachel Furnell and I am a 15 year old who has had diabetes since I was 10 yrs old. I live in Australia.

I first found out when a visiting doctor took my blood glucose level and it was 33.2 [597.6 mg/dl]. He then told us to go straight to the hospital and not to go home first! So we went straight to the hospital, where I was told that I was a diabetic. I then spent over a week in the hospital and went through all the training and education as to how to deal with diabetes.

At first I totally hated being a diabetic, as I hated to have injections, and to this day I still can't stand to have a blood test or a flu injection. However, the continuous insulin injections I am now used to.

Please email me at party_all_nite@hotmail.com.

See ya,
Rach
