  Back to Kids' Voices Kaity
Hi my name is Kaity and I am 10 years old. I got diabetes when I was 3 years old. My mom didn't know what was wrong with me but she knew something was wrong because I wasn't making my usual messes and running all over the house but was always tired and thirsty. I was in the hospital for 3 days and have been back in a few times with the flu. I know I am not the only diabetic and that there are other people all over the world with diabetes I still feel sad sometimes because I don't know any other kids with diabetes personally.

My uncle has diabetes but he doesn't understand how I feel because he got diabetes when he was 23 years old not 3 like me. I would like to hear from any other kids with diabetes because I would like to someone else to understand how I feel. I do my own finger pokes at school but I like mom to do them at home. I gave myself my own shots when I was 6 for about 4 days but then I hit a vein and got scared and can't do them anymore. Has anyone else had that problem? Well I hope to hear from someone soon.

Kaity and her family receive e-mail at jprice09 [@] charter.net.
