  Back to Kids' Voices Jordan

Hi my name is Jordan. I am 6 years old, I will be 7 in August. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on June 26, 2000. The way we found out is my mom took me into the doctor because she thought I had a bladder infection. They did a urine test and then took blood. My blood sugar was 588. Then they told my mom I had diabetes and I needed to go to the hospital right away I was there for 4 days.

It was real hard for the first week I did not want to have diabetes I just wanted to be normal again. My family has showed me that I can still be a normal kid we just have to have a good schedule. I am still playing soccer and I am a brownie girl scout. I have already started to give myself shots but I hate the finger pricks and cannot do those yet. I would love to talk to other kids with diabetes. You can e-mail me at hutchrr1302@msn.com

Love,
Jordan
