  Back to Kids' Voices Dustin

Hi! My name is Dustin. I am 9, but will be 10 in August 2001. I live in Renton, Washington, a small town just outside Seattle. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on Jan. 24th, 2000. I had been sick for about a week, when my parents took me to the hospital emergency room. At first, they though I had tonsillitis because my throat was sore and had white spots in it. They sent us home with a prescription for penicillin. The next night, my parents took me back to the hospital because I wasn't getting any better and I was breathing really fast. It was then, they found out I was diabetic. I spent the next 5 days in Children's Hospital in Seattle. I would really like to get a pump and laser blood tester because I hate my shots and finger pokes.

I like to play video games, and have a Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 and Sony Playstation. I collect Pokemon cards and read Goosebumps books. In the Summer time I love to go camping. We go to different places on Puget Sound where I catch crab and dig clams. We sometimes go camping in the mountains too. I have also, just started skiing.

I would like to hear from other kids close to my age. My email address is skynet47@hotmail.com.
