Hello, Hi! My name is Destiny. I am three years old. As you can see, I love playing dress up and playing with my cat, Bubbles. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes three months ago on May 1, 2001. My mommy knew something was wrong with me. I was constantly thirsty and if I asked for something to drink and didn't get it right away I would cry and whine until I got it. I was also tired all the time. My mom knew it was a sign of diabetes and she took me in to get checked. My doctor thought my mom was a bit silly I guess, because I looked so healthy and hadn't really lost any weight. My doctor said it would be highly unlikely but he checked me for it anyway. Unfortunately my mom was right. We had to stay in the hospital for four days and I really hated it. I hated having all those people poking at me. I think my mommy cried every night we were there. That was three months ago and I'm doing really well now. I don't cry when I get poked or my shot and I know that the shots are going to help me live a long and healthy life.
