  Back to Kids' Voices Felnisha

Hi my name is Felnisha Dokes Floyd. I am 10 years old.

On Sunday, December 9, 2001 I was rushed to the emergency room where I was diagnosed juvenile diabetes. When I reached the emergency my blood sugar was 946. I had to stay in the hospital for 5 days. I am learning a lot about diabetes.

At first I thought the shots would hurt, but it's only a little sting. Now that everything is better, I know how to give myself shots but my Mom won't let me give them to myself. I have to take two shots a day now.

When I first got sick, I kept getting real thirsty and tired. I'm learning that having diabetes isn't really that bad.

Anyone who has more things to tell me about diabetes can email me. I would love to hear from you.

Felnisha receives e-mail at Felnisha10 [at] yahoo.com.
