My name is Jessica I'm 8 years old. I live in Scotland, south of Edinburgh. I found out that I was diabetic on 15th March 2001. I like watching TV and playing with my friends.
I was scared when I went to hospital, but my mum and dad gave me lots of cuddles and the doctors explained what diabetes was. I have been doing my own finger pricks since I came out of hospital. I was in for 6 days. I do all my own injections -- 3 a day -- but my mum or dad draw up my insulin in the morning. I have a pen for tea time and a pen for bedtime.
Sometimes I get fed up with my diabetes but my mum says that some people have worse things and if I look after myself I will be ok.
