Hello. My name is Brent and I am 13 years old. I will be 14 years old next month. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on September 13, 2001. That sure was a memorable week. My symptoms had started earlier that summer. I had to go to the bathroom a lot during the day and I also drank a lot. I also lost about 30 pounds in three months! Now I had been trying to lose weight that summer, but I didn't want to lose that much.
Life with diabetes is very complicated and annoying. I take three shots a day and average in about 5 blood tests a day. Every single morning I have to wake up, take my blood, take a shot, and then eat. I really hate eating in the morning too! Tomorrow is my next clinic appointment, and I'm hoping to get a pump. I've been reading up on the pump for a long time, and I'm going to try to impress them tomorrow so I can get a pump! The pump I'm hoping to get is the Animas R-1000 pump.
I live at home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with my dad, mom, and brother. I have three dogs, a bird, a few fish, and a frog. The three dogs are a Mastiff (Foster), a Whippet (Snippet), and a Papillon (Nike).
If you want to, you can e-mail me at Lupa_14567[@]hotmail.com with any questions or comments. Feel free to do so!
