Hi, my name is Sydne. I am three years old in this picture and have been living with type 1 diabetes for 9 months now. Although I look like a perfectly healthy little girl, the fact is, I have a very serious disease that could cause me a lot of harm. I am very lucky to have two very loving parents in my life (well three if you count my step dad) that are obsessed with providing the best care possible for me.
I will never remember what life without diabetes was like. All I will know (until a cure is found) is more daily finger pokes than I can count and taking insulin. Right now, I am getting my insulin injected, and I don't like it even one little bit! My parents have been trying to get my endocrinologist to let me use the pump to deliver the insulin, but have had no luck. I don't understand why the endo wants to put me at higher risk for long term complications by refusing to put me on the pump. I just don't get it. Luckily, my parents won't take no for an answer, and have switched to a different endo to see if he is our man. I'll keep you posted....
