Hi! I am Alexis. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was 18 months old. I am 7 years old now and I am looking forward to second grade. I have just started doing my own pokes. I don't like doing them. I am considering the insulin pump. I am learning more about it with my parents.
I enjoy having "Tea Parties" with my girlfriends. I also love sleep overs. I am a Brownie Girl Scout. I am in ballet and tap. I have two brothers and three dogs.
I am doing okay with my diabetes. My friends know when I am low and always get the teacher or an adult for me. They also know how to set up my blood glucose meter and poke my finger. My classmates are always curious about my diabetes supplies. I know it's important to take good care of myself. It was also good for me to go to a Diabetes camp and meet other kids just like me. This was my first year at camp. I know now that I am not alone.
I love getting mail and making new friends. You can email me at gwoitte[@]hotmail.com.
