Hi My name is Katrina. I am 13 years old. I was diagnosed with diabetes on the 4th of October 2002 and I was 12 years old. This is my story. My mum had an appointment for me to go and see a doctors so I went and my mum said to my doctor that I had to go to the toilet a lot and I was drinking loads and I was never hungry and I had lost a lot of weight. So I had to get blood taken and I had to go to the hospital with my blood. So we packed up some things and we went to the hospital and they took my blood and then a doctor came and she said that I had diabetes and I had to stay in. The next couple of days I started to get insulin and my finger pricked and they gave us loads of information and I had to stay in hospital for 6 days. And that's my story. My hobbies are to collect beanie babies and porcelain dolls and I live in Scotland. I have 6 birds, 1 hamster and 1 dog. I would really like some friends with diabetes and any age and I have to get insulin twice a day and my finger pricked 3 - 4 times a day.
