Flag of Ukraine

Hello boys and girls! What are your names? I don't hear! My name is Audrey. I live in Ukraine. I am 12 and I am in the 7th grade now.

I don't even remember when I got diabetes. I was a very small baby then. I don't even remember the time when I did not have diabetes. I hate it very much! GRRR!! I would like to throw it out into the trash. But don't think that diabetes is such a bad thing. If you control your blood sugars, all will be OK.

My advice to everyone who is recently diagnosed: don't panic!

If you know a lot about diabetes and do the right things, you'll be OK. I have known many things about it since I was quite small. My mom helps parents of kids diagnosed with diabetes to learn about diabetes and to get supplies. Here in Ukraine getting a meter or tests strips is still a problem. I often help my mom to explain diabetes to parents and kids.

I always do my shots and tests and never rely on adults. :-)

You can e-mail me at elliv[@]mailru.com.
