Hi, my name is Luis Eduardo. I'm 3 years and 4 months old and I was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 on May 11, 2003. I live in Lima, Peru and have a 2 year old little sister. Her name is Elisa. I began to feel sick 10 days before my diagnosis and my parents were very worried about me because they didn't know what was happening to me. They took me to the doctor and checked me all over. After the tests, I had to spend some days at the clinic and it was very scary to me because people that I didn't know came over and hurt me with shots and I didn't know why.
In spite of the few weeks passed my shots don't hurt me anymore because they are my special vitamins to be stronger and with my magic pencil my parents measure my glucose every day. Now I feel better and my dad and mom are more quiet. They worry a lot about my food, because is very important for me to eat healthy. Sometimes is difficult for me to eat because I hate most food, but I do my best.
Even with these changes, I continue to have a normal life. I go every day to the kindergarten. I have my karate and tennis classes, and in a couple years I'm going to start practicing motorcross.
A big hello to everybody,
