Hi! My names Sara and I'm 15 years old. I live in Wales near the UK. I was diagnosed with diabetes in September 2001, that's nearly 2 years now. My mum and dad took me into hospital as I was drinking lots of fluids and losing a lot of weight. I stayed in hospital over night and there I had my first insulin injection. I wasn't scared at all as my dad already has diabetes so I knew what to expect. Living with diabetes hasn't affected me a lot, although I do, as every other diabetic, have to watch what I eat and control my blood sugar level while doing sports, which is my main hobby. I am now on 2 insulting injections a day and test my blood about 3 times a day. I have very good control on my diabetes. I don't let diabetes control my life as I do what all my friends do and live life like everyone else! One person that's helped me through diabetes is Lucy. I met Lucy through this website about a year and a half ago and since then, we've been talking on the Internet and we've even met each other which was really nice!
