Hi I'm Rachel. I am almost 13. I have had diabetes for five years. I was diagnosed when I was 8-years-old. I just got my pump a few days ago. I have a Deltec Cozmo. I named it "Monkey." I used to take up to seven shots a day; now I take none. Oh yeah and I LOVE Spongebob Squarepants. My mom has diabetes too. She also got it when she was 8. My little sister has diabetes also. She got it when she was 3. The only one in my family who doesn't have diabetes is my dad. I don't enjoy having diabetes. I am always sick. My friends have trouble understanding. But I had to face the facts I would probably have diabetes for my whole life. I didn't have to go to the hospital because my mom had diabetes. I have been in the walk for diabetes for 3 years. I love going there and meeting people with diabetes. I have also been to camp 2 times. That was really fun!!! I met a bunch of friends. I would love to be your penpal.
