  Back to Kids' Voices Emma

Hiya, my name is Emma and I live in Kent. I am 15 years old and I have been diabetic for 2 years on April the 4th. I didn't like the fact that I am diabetic and I still don't. I find it very hard to control my cravings and gave up on doing my blood sugars for a little while. I went on a Diabetes UK holiday and had a great time, and this helped me a lot. Soon after I carried on eating a lot of sugar and I still do now. Slowly but surely, with the love of my family and the support from my friends, I will get my diabetes under control and live a healthy life. I am not sure whether I want children or not because of my diabetes, but hopefully I will feel differently when I am older. I just wish that I could say I am a perfectly happy diabetic, because that's what I want to be.

My dad is diabetic to, so he has helped me a lot. If it wasn't for him I don't think I could have coped on my own. It hit me very hard, but now I just want to live my life to the full and have lots of fun. I have contributed in a 'Walk in the Park' and I am hoping to do a 'Denim for Diabetes' at my school.

I would like a few more friends like me, so if you want to chat add me to MSN or email on my email address, which is emmypoo71[@]hotmail.com.
