My name is Carla. I am the mother of Bobby who is 17 and is a senior this year. Bobby was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on November 11, 2001. Bobby was initially managed with Lantus and Humalog as needed and did well until recently. Bobby began having lows to the point the paramedics had to be called to the school and then he'd bounce up to 300+. Something had to change! I called MedTronic MiniMed and on Friday April 2, 2004 Bobby started the pump. Not only his life changed but ours changed as well! I regret the feeling I had of being "scared" of the pump.
